Why open source software is not popular

I am a fan of open source software and not just because it's free (Freeware) is, but also because sometimes it is better than paid software. Who does not know what open source can go to wikipedia by link. Unfortunately, stores open source software is not to the general publiek.Dit which I think some of the reasons.

There is no advertising for open source products and until there is economic interest plays will not be promoted.

Usability,

This applies to any software package, but usability is important. Unfortunately, this sometimes forgotten. There are many computer users who have trouble installing an OS.

Government,

The Dutch government always preaches for renewal or for innovation are. The government allows a great opportunity to be open source software. Open source software products can be a great saving especially in times of cutbacks. The government would have to have a leading role.

The open source cummunitie there is still work to convince the general public of the quality of open source software. In recent years there have been some major steps to put such operating system linux. There are several versions that are easy to install. I hope this much to hear.
